Subtle Mind and Loving-Kindness my saving grace

I have chose the two practices that have benefited me the most in the past couple of weeks. Subtle mind and Loving-Kindness, these two practices have brought me positive outcomes and I plan on continuing doing them from here on out. The reason I chose subtle mind practice is because I am busy all the time helping others meeting their goals and I never take time for myself mentally. I have the fitness and nutrition thing down but not the mental part. The subtle mind practice allows me to calm my mind and ease my stress. When I am done I notice that I can think clearly and my thoughts are not racing. It is not only my mind that is relaxed but my body is relaxed and I try to do this a couple of times a week.

The reason I chose loving-kindness is because this one comes easy for me to do. I always think of others first, actually maybe too much but it brings me happiness to see them happy. I focus on my friends suffering who has been battling cancer and wanting to get better. I have learned to take those feelings and use them in a positive way. Fostering these practices into my life will help me to concentrate more. The exercises that I have chosen to incorporate into my life are yoga which I love and meditation. Meditation has been a learning process but it is getting easier and I really enjoy it.

  1. Great post this week! I am right there with you in terms of the meditation being a bit tricky at first but I am glad you found 2 that work for you. I also chose Loving-Kindness as one of my favorites. I have found that incorporating meditation with my yoga practice is also very effective. There are many varieties of yoga, some that are more meditation based that I think you might like! Maybe you could also incorporate some of these practices with your clients!

  2. Subtle mind was one of my favorites as well. I likened it to Meeting Aesclepius and bringing a calm to my mind as I continue to have too much on my plate to enjoy low stress levels. Another great benefit of these practices is that we can include them in our workouts that provided us with meditation type of qualities. Good luck with your continued meditations.

  3. Hey Kisha, I am glad that these two practices worked for you and that you will continue to use them as you plan. I remember how much difficulty you were having at first, but it seems that you found some areas that you really enjoy and are showing growth. Congratulations!

  4. Hello Kisha,
I have learned that for me loving-kindness is probably the most important to me out of all the areas that we have studied. My Aunt Wanda taught me a lot as I was growing up and for that I am truly grateful. She was the type that never gave up on family and was always there with a drop of a dime to help a lending hand. All anyone had to do was call her and she would pack a bag and be on her way to show all the loving-kindness she could. It seems like that everything I do is for other people and never for myself. I am always giving and never accepting anything in return. I have found my life more stressful as time goes on because of the life I live and my beliefs. I have been told so many times that I need to delegate jobs and put someone else in charge and take time for myself but, I keep telling people that this is easier said than done. Life is too short to take control of everything yourself and that is where you will have all your medical problems come from is all the stress. I have found that I need to take time and take deep breaths and just meditate my life slowing down a little.
